How To Stay Healthy When Traveling?

A lot of people ask me how I stay fit and healthy while doing long-term traveling. With so many things to do, long bus trips, sleepless nights and heavy backpack you will find your body saying ‘rest’ and ‘relax’ por favor. How weird it is that when we go out and travel to getaway from stress, we also find ourselves tired. Anyway, here are some tips for being and staying healthy on the road:

1. Eat healthy.

The key here is to look for a restaurant or food cart that has lots of people. For one this means the food is good and which also translates to freshness because they always have to restock their supply.

2. Drink lots of water.

At home I drink at least 2 liters of water. When traveling I see to it that I drink 3 liters, not including shakes, coffee and beer.

It is best to drink water 30 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after eating. This is good for digestion and our metabolism

3. Pack up some fruits.

Not only that this prevents you from eating junk foods, this will also give lots of vitamins and minerals that you need. I always buy banana, apple and mango or whatever local fruit in season.

4. Boost your immune system with Vitamin C.

For the past 8 years I’ve been packing my bag with Fern-C. I usually take 1 capsule per day during my travel. In my Philippine trips, I don’t remember getting sick ever.

I really recommend Fern-C because this is not your regular Vitamin C. It is in Sodium Ascorbate form which is a non-acidic. The Sodium Ascorbate found in FERN-C is made at DSM’s plant in Europe. DSM is the only western Vitamin C manufacturer that offers the world’s premium range of Vitamin C forms. This can be taken with an empty stomach and would naturally neutralize acidity in the stomach. Sometimes when I can feel my immune system going down I take up to 2 capsules which contains is 1,000mg of vitamin C (500mg/capsule).

Fern-C keeps me healthy and ready of the adventures on the road.

Do you know that Vitamin C also makes our skin younger looking and hastens wound healing. Probably the reason why whenever I tell other backpackers my age, they wound say, “you look 23-24 years old.” I’m 7 years older than their guess. I also take large doses whenever I get a wound from a reef cut from surfing. Instead of putting alcohol or betadine, I would put coconut oil which has cleansing properties.

So there you go, one of my travel secrets. Fern-C is available in packs of 10s for only Php65.00 which come to think of it Php6.50 a day for a healthier and more beautiful you. It is affordable, high-class and absorbed by our bodies really quick and easy. We are also assured that these capsules are of best quality because of the QUALI-C trademark.
