10 Extreme Sports to Add on Your Bucketlist

31 days have passed this 2013! How are you doing with your travel bucketlist? All good?

While some include getting the Starbucks 2013 Planner or marrying a rich man in their bakitlist, I mean bucket list, I know that readers of this blog have far better plans this year.

So before this month of January ends, I wanted to write, rather suggest “10 Extreme Sports to Add on Your Bucketlist.”

1. Mountaineering.

Conquer your fear of heights and climb a mountain. Successfully reaching a mountain’s peak can give someone a sense of fulfillment, a sense of accomplishment. I always read PinoyMountaineer.com for ideas or mountains near my place where I can climb.

For beginners, try Mt. Makiling, Mt. Manabu, Mt. Batulao or Pico de Loro.

2. Surfing.

Paddle, ride the waves and get stoked! I’ve been surfin seriously for the past five months now and I’m addicted to it already. It’s nirvana out there, always gets me excited whenever I ride a wave. Contrary to popular belief, you can try surfing even if you don’t know how to swim. You just have to paddle hard.

For those who want to try, go to La Union or Baler or maybe join me in one of my surfing trips? Just keep posted via my Facebook page.

3. Spelunking.

Explore a cave and get wet while doing so. I’m not really into spelunking. I don’t know I guess I don’t want to walk into darkness for 4-5hours. But maybe that is your thing? But when I was in Sagada I tried ot for the sake of trying it.

The Queen, you will see this in Sagada

Now, I’m here to share the experience, read the Porn Cave in Sagada.

4. Wall Climbing.

If you are too busy and you can’t go out of town, worry not, Manila has great wall-climbing facilities. It’s also easy to do, just wear your sporty shirt and shorts and head to R.O.X.

There is a 40-ft wall installed inside R.O.X. where you can get your endorphins going.

5. Diving.

They say that the beauty underwater is better than above. I’m always stunned with mountains, valleys, cliffs and lagoons, how much more if I see the waterworld?

For beginners, try going to Anilao. If you want to experience it in one of the best diving sites in the world, go to Coron. I recommend Coron Divers which is the only Filipino-owned and managed dive shop in Coron.

I just got certified, so if you know of nice dive sites, please let me know and let’s dive together!

6. Wakeboarding.

This is a different high! It’s like surfing and skimboarding but different. I tried wakeboarding in a wakepark and also wakeboarding in the open sea. Do you know that wakeboarding in the open sea is much more thrilling than on the wakepark? Ohh yeah, you can read my experience in Legazpi City: Wakeboarding in Bicol

Wakeboarding in Nuvali Wakepark

Wakeboarding in Nuvali Wakepark

For beginners, go to Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna or head to CWC.

7. Mountain Biking.

Biking on the trail is more fun than biking in the road- more technical and heart-pumping as you navigate through steep hills, slippery holes and rocky path. Now more and more people are getting into mountain biking exploring new trails and muddy paths in the name of adrenaline rush.

Find a group on Facebook to jump-start your mountain-biking career.

8. Whitewater Rafting.

Forward! Stop! Paddle back! Paddles up, High Fiiiiiive! Adrenaline to the highest level! Did this in CDO and Chico River and all I can say is I will do it again.

Read my past experiences: CDO Whitewater Rafting / Whitewater Rafting at Chico River

9. River Kayaking

If you have done whitewater rafting then this must be the next step. Because this time you are now on your own (with the help of a guide). You control the kayak sa it goes down through the river wild. I want to do this again.

Where can you do this? Tibiao River Kayaking

10. Ultramarathoning.

So you run? A marathoner maybe? Push your limits and try to do a 50K or 100K? This is one of the things I really want to do- a 50K trail run. I hope my busy schedule would allow me to train for this.

TNF organizes annual ultramarathon climbs.

ME? I have zeroed in with my Magic Se7en this 2013.

How many of the 10 have you done so far?

Maybe I forgot something, you may add on the comment section.

ultramarathoning is an adventure sport? i’ve done 4, though i don’t like biking or activities that you do over and over again.. like running and biking. will be enrolling for a open water diving this summer and will do tough mudder next year.

Whitewater kayaking in Tibiao is nothing compared to CDO.
    See sample videos of CDO whitewater kayaking here;

search “kayak cagayan” on youtube to find out the quality of WWK in CDO compared to other destinations in the Philippines, including Tibiao.
