Good Times at Borongan, Eastern Samar

Surfing. Chilling out on the beach. Listening to some reggae music. What more can you ask? This is LIFE in Borongan!

Beach bum! Taking it slow… Crashing waves, coconut trees, drift woods, spumes and sea breeze. Life is a beach!

There are times that during a long trip, you just want to breath and take a good look at the horizon, dream or just think of random things. Let time pass by as you wait for the sunset or stay put at the crashing waves. These stuff I did in the Last Resort which is owned and developed by my good surfer friend, Nick.

Spumes in front of the Last Resort, Borongan, E.Samar

It was good times- I was just there on the beach listening to my ipod, 30 minutes passed by and I’m just sitting on the black fine sand. I began to set up my hammock and try to take a good afternoon nap. My mind wandered, I was thinking about a trip overseas. Yes, I actually want to experience again what it feels to eat a food I don’t even know how to pronounce, listen with language I do not know. I wanted to visit a country I have never never been before- Thailand? Brunei? Indonesia? Should I go back to Vietnam or Malaysia If have an internet access that day I started searching for Borneo holidays.

The surf spot just in front of my friend’s place. This is where I first learned how to paddle more than 2 years ago

Back to reality- it was just an afternoon of good times. Talking with surfer friends from long time ago- Nick, Jeremiah and Jeric. We remembered the first time I was there more than 2 years ago. It was my first time to paddle out. The time where I almost died because of non-stop wipe-outs. I was just learning how to surf and I was fool enough to attack a head-high waves. So newbie! I became a profesional paddler (one who paddles but cant ride the surfboard)- I was a surfer-wannabe at Borongan, Eastern Samar.

What I love about Borongan is that it is facing the Pacific Ocean and is known as one of the prime surfing destinations in the Philippines. There are lots of surf spots here and just to name a few- boulevard, river mouth and pier area. A lot of surf guides in the area, they will definitely help visiting surfers.

Anyway, the first time I visited this place was a journey to remember. The things we did are still on our minds as we drink beer and celebrate friendship. Cheers to life and living it to the fullest.

The Last Resort… where priceless memories happen

Before we bid good-bye to one another, I paddle to the Pacific and tried my luck once again. I wish I was able to ride the waves. But truth be told, the power of the ocean is too strong, I can’t even go to the line. hahaha

Waiting for ride back to my friend’s place after an afternoon of surfing (paddling) and good times

No worries though, I can always go back and visit my friends- again to have a good time.

To all my surfer friends:

Surf’s up! Good times!
