My Fave Foods during Lakbay Norte 3

Travel, run and eat– three of my favorite verbs. Thank goodness I was able to do all of this during Lakbay Norte 3. What in the world is Lakbay Norte 3? You will know more about Lakbay Norte when you read the postscript of the blog post.

Anyway, I just want to present to you my favorite eats during the 8-day adventure trip in Northern Luzon.

Warning: Please ready your hanky, the following will make you drool.

Breakfast.

My favorite part of the day. I’m a morning person and I always start my day with some brewed coffee (not in the photo) and a hearty breakfast like this one. A food for the gods- blue cheese, pecans, crackers, salad and crispy bacon on top.

Lunch.

Pizza and Pasta for lunch? Why not? Served inside a quaint restaurant in Angeles City, Pampanga called Historic Camalig (a storehouse) are the Filipino Spaghetti and Three-Way Pizza topped with sun-dried cherry tomatoes and kesong puti. The Kapampangan’s really are the best when it comes to satisfying your cravings. This is what I love about heirloom recipes- I haven’t tasted anything like these before. Only in Pampanga!

Merienda.

As you all know, Filipinos love to eat. We actually eat 5x a day (sometimes 6x), two of these  are called merienda. Although merienda in the Western world means tea time, we eat something solid. Take for example the merienda served during our Prado Farm Tour in Lubao, Pampanga. A roasted suckling pig stuffed with duck. Notice that the pig is not that fat- because the pig is vegetarian and organic. What a heavy merienda! How does it taste? It taste like lechon, just less fatty. Plus the flower salad was an amazing partner.

Dinner.

I guess the best dinner I had during the rest of our 8-day tour with the dinner and cocktail at Thunderbird Resort in Poro Point coming in close second. This is the main course at The Manor Hotel in Baguio- U.S. Beef with mushroom sauce, vegetable and mashed potato. It was tender and juicy and I love the pepper in the mushroom sauce. It was soooo damn good I almost licked my plate when I was done.
