Isang Daan Update 4: Taking a 100-day Leave of Absence

Date: January 25, 2012
Time: 4:45pm (just minutes before checking out of the office)
Venue: Office, somewhere in the Philippines

Note: This is what transpired when I asked my boss to have a 100-day leave for ISANG DAAN

James (J): Hi Sir! Can I talk to you for a moment?

Boss (B):  Hi James. How are you? Sure! Do you have a problem?

J: Nothing sir. I actually want to thank you for being a good boss for almost 3 years now.

B: Wow! That’s nice to hear. So what do you want to talk about?

J: Uhmmmm…. How do I say this?

B: Wait James, I hope you are not resigning… I mean, you are an asset to our company and I really like working with you.

J: No, no, Sir. I’m not resigning. I just want want to let you know some of my plans in the following days as this concerns you and the company.

B: Okay, my goodness! Now I can breath easily. So tell me about your plans.

J: Sir, I’m actually planning something our company has never done before. Something that would create a long-lasting mark in the industry we are in.

B: Okay. That’s good, no, I mean great! Please tell me about it. I’m excited!

J: It’s a challenge for our company. And I think this will make or break the company we both built. This is larger than us and actually needs support and “pangtangkilik” from our clients.

B: (nods his head and looks to James’ eyes.)

J: Sir, I already prepared the proposal for this project. I also did some research and surveys and the feedback are great. Everyone is excited for the project. But this BIG project needs a lot of budget from the company and more media mileage to be successful.

B: Okay. What’s the proposal?

J: Sir, I will just whet your appetite by showing you a teaser video of the project-

B: Wow James! This is an awesome project! I’m having goosebumps right now.  I am singing the proposal letter even if I haven’t seen it yet.

J: Thank you, thank you sir.

B: I pray for your success! I support you on this 101%. Please update me always. How can I help you with this?

J: Just share the video sir. If you haven’t, do “FOLLOW” me on twitter- http://twitter.com/journeyingjames and  “LIKE” me on facebook- http://www.facebook.com/journeyingjamesFB.

B: Will surely do that.

___ ___ ___ end of the conversation ___ ___ ___

2nd Note: James doesn’t have a real life boss. Because he is the boss.
