7 Best Experiences during Lakbay Norte 3 according to Travel Bloggers

I just came from Lakbay Norte 3 and I think that writing about the 8-day  jam-packed adventure to Rediscover the North of Luzon is close to impossible. So I asked 7 bloggers (including myself) of their best or most memorable experiences during the 8-day adventure during the Lakbay Norte 3 to somehow show you what are the things that created a mark in our travel notes. These are what I got from them:

Marcos of Ambot-Ah

Best Experience: Surfing at Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte

Marcos about to paddle out. Photo from Marcos

I got really excited when I saw that we will try surfing at Pagudpod for the Lakbay Norte 3 Trip. So, I really enjoyed my surfing experience in Pagudpod, I got to stand a few times. I think I really want to surf better. The scenery is also very good, the water is so clear and blue, the sky was perfect and the sunset was really great too. The experience in Pagudpod is really, really excellent.

Edcel of SoloflightEd

Best Experience: The off-road adventure to Puning’s Hot Spring, Pampanga

Scenic 4×4 ride to Puning’s Hot Spring

It was a 45-minute ride on board a 4×4 vehicle to Puning’s Hot Spring. All I had to do was to hold on to the steel bars of the truck which did not require much physical activity. But the view was breath-taking that I took so many shots from my camera.

Gael of ThePinaySoloBackpacker

Best Experience: White-Water Rafting at Chico River, Tabuk, Kalinga

Because the route is so scenic, the forest is still intact the surroundings basically and the waters is clear. And I haven’t tried white-water rafting before so it’s a new experience. Most unforgettable is the time when we jump into the river to try the rapids by ourselves where I bumped my butt to the rocks a couple of times. The white-water rafting adventure at Chico River is a must-try.

Christian of Lakad-Pilipinas

Most Memorable: Shoot at Blue Lagoon, Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte

My favorite experience is shooting at the Blue Lagoon in Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte. Although I didn’t try surfing, I did some landscape photography instead. The waters are so blue, really blue. The waves are so nice it’s really good for long exposure landscape shot. There was this big drop; there is this dead tree about 15 meters from the shore where I found my sweet spot in Blue Lagoon, a perfect spot to take some snapshots.

Kara of Travel Up

Most Memorable: Airsoft at Baguio Country Club, Baguio City, Benguet

Airsoft at Baguio Country Club. Photo by Hannah Reyes

One of the most memorable activities for me was playing airsoft at the Baguio Country Club. Crawling through the woods & navigating through the terrain while firing an AK-47 at random people was like living through a real life game of Counter-Strike.”

Angel of Lakwatsero

Best Experience: Off-road adventure to Puning’s Hotspring, Pampanga

Sand Steam at Puning’s, Angeles, Pampanga

For me our last adventure activity was the best. Riding the 4×4 on a ragged terrain beautifully shaped by the volcanic ash of Mt. Pinatubo is a surreal experience. Passing along the river and steep slopes, through gorges, with the towering walls of mountain and lahar is a visual treat. But what makes the adventure more memorable is the relaxing treat at the end when we dipped in the hotspring of Puning, buried in the warm volcanic ash and coated with muds afterwards. It was really amazing!

James of JourneyingJames

Best Experience: Staying at the hotels

My room at The Manor, Baguio City

For a hammock-guy/backpacker like me, staying at the hotels are a bit rare. The hot shower, fresh towel, breakfast buffet, wi-fi ready lounge, and the comfortable bed sheets and pillow on an AC-room are a welcome treat. Special mention to The Manor in Baguio City. This is a good preparation for my ISANG DAAN Challenge on February 1.

Surfing in Pagudpud is definitely a treat. (Never mind that the only thing I managed to do was fall off the surfboard when I was there.) So two out of seven voted for off-road adventure in Pampanga. Must be really that fun. How much does it cost normally?
