I’m happy that female readers find this new feature helpful. Now let’s learn from two brave travelers, Chyng from Manila and Lisa Marie from Iligan City.
Chyng Reyes of No Spam, No Virus, No Kidding shares what’s close to her heart:
Safety comes first.
Above being a traveler, you’re a girl. A secured and safe place to sleep needs to be highly considered, regardless of the price.
When in doubt, dont.
Use that very powerful instinct when it comes to trusting strangers.

Chyng, the superstar female blogger. Fly high Chyng!
Be aware of the scams and crimes.
Lesson learned the hard way. Being prepared doesn’t only mean you know the “what-to-see’s and where-to-go’s”. Never forget to educate yourself about the well-known scams and recent crimes that happened in your target destination as well. It’s always better to be aware than be a regretful victim in the end.
Lai Mirasol of Pinay Travelista gives her take on the topic most girls asks (and yes I like the idea of green travel under smart packing tip):
On planning and safety. Always plan your travel ahead. It will save you the bother to constantly ask around, and you will have your itinerary to keep you busy the whole day. When travelling in groups, I stick with a guy friend or an mommy traveler as a travel buddy, when travelling alone, I sit beside a family or any lady — gives you that unwanted call for attention of a single brown female travelling. (chos! LOL)
Smart packing is essential. By smart that means bring enough, meaning 1 item or depending on length of travel, for any situation — like for swimming, rain, night out, or something decent for dining. And it being essential is to really stick to it. You only get to use 80% of what you pack, lose the 20%, losing will not make you 20% less a lady anyways. Please, please please don’t buy those products in sachet. You can actually save up on buying bottled ones and the just refill your toiletry canisters, help the environment from its waste and lessen your carbon footprints.
Wear whatever you like, as long as it is fit to where you will be travelling. You can get away with wearing what you like as long as it’s appropriate and you’re comfortable in them . I carry a scarf which I can pull out easily if I feel the need to cover myself from cold, my face from the wind, or if i need that added little comfort of just being wrapped up.
What to do. Do whatever you want and whatever you like, just respect the people and the culture of the place you’re visiting. Do not let your being a female limit your adventure. You’ll realize it on the road that people tend to gravitate towards you because they feel that you need the security and the help — use that to your advantage. Other than making sure you’ve gone through the other essentials in travelling and packing, don’t forget to bring guts and zest for life with you — it will take you far.
