Mindanao Challenge Day5- Blessings: Hitchhike from GenSan to Davao & Food Trip with LakwatserangBayong

Because I finished writing my Day4 log around 3:30am in the evening, I woke up still lowbatt. But I have to ready myself as I will be “hitchhiking” to Davao City. Thanks Kuya Avel and to Globe Telecom.

Tweet: SOCSKSARGEN, thanks for all your surprises! It’s hard to say goodbye, but I have to carry on and explore Davao Region. #mindanao400

There is actually a Globe Presscon in Davao City and since 2 bloggers can’t attend, one slot was given to me. That means that I also get his Jollibee breakfast and the buffet lunch at Victoria Plaza. Love it!

Tweet: Passing thru davao del sur, stunned by the region’s mountain ranges. Nag-hitchhike lang ako pinakain pa ako ng jollibee. #mindanao400

PATALASTAS

RE Globe Presscon: Hats of to your motives of going against the PLDT-Digitel merger as I know that it will benefit not only Globe but the users too. I appreciate that as a Globe subscriber myself. Thanks btw for the gastronomic lunch!

Appetizer: Salad, Sushi Rolls and Tuna Sashimi

Main Course: Beef, Pork, Chicken, Crabs

COFFEE TREAT and FINE DINING AT DAMOSA

After lunch, LakwatserangBayong (Kim & MJ) invited me for some coffee. They fetch me at Victoria Plaza and we went straight to BluGre’s Coffee and then to DAMOSA (Davao Motor Sales) to have some pizza, pasta and gambas.

Blugre's Durian Coffee. Don'tstop sipping until its bottom's up

NO ACCOMMODATION YET

Since I haven’t spent a single centavo yet, I can easily book a pension house/inn within the city. But to my surprise Ate Frances from CouchSurfing is on her way to Samal Island for the weekend. I read her message last night and god thing I left my mobile number. It was perfect! I gladly said “yes” to Samal Island (although I really want to go to Talicud and Isla Reta) after the food trip with Kim, MJ and Mitch.

TO SAMAL ISLAND

Tweet: Now going to Samal island… you wouldn’t believe it, I didn’t spend any centavo yet. Epic #mindanao400 challenge

About 7:00pm I met Ate Frances and Nurj at Sasa Terminal (terminal sa mga lantsa) and we boarded the boat going to Samal Island (Ate Frances paid for my fare, Php13, shame on me.). It was about 20minutes, dark and there are showers of rain. From the port, we were fetched straight to their compund-  Kaalim compound, Brgy. Tambo in Babak district.

It was a tiring day and I’m already sleepy, I said goodnight to the family and went to sleep early.

Tweet: I’m staying in a Muslim family here in Samal island. I feel like part of the family already. Asalam alaikum! #mindanao400

My bed for 3 nights in Samal Island. Sorry, my things are cluttered.

Its always a blessing to have friends! Thanks to the new friends I met along the way (Nanards and Chiq). Thanks Kuya Avel for bringing me to Davao, nice to meet you MJ & Kim & Mitch and thank you so much Ate Frances for letting me stay in your nice place at Samal Island.

Expenses for Today: Php 0.00 (none/wala)

Accommodation- Free of charge, CouchSurfing c/o Kuya Lek and Ate Frances in Tambo, Babak District, Samal Island

Word for Today:

Uyab. Boyfriend/Girlfriend. Hindi ako marunong magsabi ng paalam, lalo na sa uyab ko.” (I can’t say good-bye especially to my loved one).

Reflection for Today:

“The beauty of the day rest not on how you feel about it but rather on how people around you felt by seeing you through your journey.” (from Dr. Wendell Cagape, via SMS)

So her name is Mitch. hi Mitch.

Wow you spent nothing and you had buffet, agree traveling is not only seeing new places but also forming new friendship with strangers who’d become friends later on.

    on your patalastas:

there’s no stopping the stock acquisition now, my friend.
did globe term it as “merging”. It’s not a merger, by the way. just stock acquisitions. just so happen they bought the majority.

happy travels, my friend! ayo!s walang gastos!
