Taking a Break: Robinsons Galleria Veranda Food Trip (Part 1 of 3)
A timely break from my hammock-hanging escapades, I joined food and travel bloggers on a different kind of experience- a food trip at the Veranda, a strip of restaurants on the west side of Robinsons Galleria.
Papa John’s. If you heart pizzas, you should try Papa John’s. Not only that they make good tasting pies, they do it fresh too as you can see them make their crust in you face. I recommend you order their specialty: The Super Papa, a combination of tasty pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, mushrooms, and different spices, choose the hand-tossed one, dude. Price: Php 550 (large which is good for 8pax)
Delicious Kitchen by Eat Well. Chinese food is love! Delicious Kitchen, a restaurant that serves Chinese food gave my taste buds a real treat. I tasted Xiao Long Pao (Php 195/order, 8pcs.), Homemade Beancurd w/ Asparagus & Bailing Mushroom (Php 235/order, 4pcs.) and my personal fave, Shrimp on Toast (Php 330/order, 6pcs.).
And then we thought the treat here was over until we satisfied our sweet tooth with buchi with a twist, inside is not the usual mongo beans but white chocolate. Yum!
Johnny Rockets. A friend of mine tweeted about this restaurant days before I tried it. More than the “Fries All You Can Eat,” this hamburger joint offers the best milkshake I tasted so far, way better than what my what my mom makes. J I ordered the Butterfinger flavor (Php ) to go along with the burgers I sampled: Philly Cheese Steak (Php 395); The Original w/ Cheese (Php 335) and Chicken Club Sandwich (Php 415).
La Creperie. When I looked into their menu, what got my attention was the Le J.J (J.J. as is JourneyingJames?). Wishing…. Ohh well, how I love the goat cheese crepe, I think they call it . I recommend the Ice-cold Moroccan Mint tea, very refreshing, perfect for the hot weather (add the Nami crepe too, Php 225).
Hyphy’s by Chef Bruce Lim. If you love the concepts behind good restaurants, you must love Hyphy’s. They just opened and I was surprised to know that they already have regular customers, must be the food right? I was already full as I am eating from 10:30, it was already 1:15pm and what I want is just relax, but then I smelled something worth to try- Bangus steak (Php 210). I got a lil’ of its meat, and then I ate some more, I can take it anymore, I ate the whole. The garlicky flavor and sweetness of the bangus belly is to die for. Before I forgot, I also had a sip of “Init” cocktail.
8 Spices (Thai food). First time I tasted tom yum was in Kuala Lumpur, nothing so special as its like just another soup. But then my experience of Tom Yam here was unforgettable, just the perfect hotness, sweetness, sourness. Perfectly cooked squid, not too soft, not too hard, and the spices really tingles every taste buds you have (Php 380). I was asking for more soup even though I’m already full. After about 30 minutes, I finished two servings of the soup plus some fried Lapu-Lapu (Php 510).
Giligan’s Restaurant. This restaurant doesn’t need promotions as everyone knows of its house specialty- the Sisig (Php 168), if you are with the whole barkada, you might want to order the Giligan’s Grilled Platter (Php 575).
Golden Spoon (Yogurt). Runner’s food! I heart yogurt as post-run food, Golden Spoon makes the experience to the next level coz you gotta “decorate” your yogurt. I chose the vanilla and choco yogurt topped it with buttered pecan. Perfect to end the food-trip. But wait, don’t forget the coffee Filipinos has come to love…
Starbucks. I don’t think this needs more explanation. My dose of caffeine helped me to digest all the food I ate. I ordered one caramel macchiato before we left Promenade to proceed for the next food trip in Tagaytay…

TAKING A BREAK is a different kind of trip, a timely break from my hammock-hanging-escapades. This is a 3-part series wherein I feature some restaurants and a hotel for everyone’s enjoyment. Don’t you think I need some comfort and convenience too?
Robinsons Veranda (Galleria) / Robinsons Promenade (Tagaytay) / Summit Ridge Hotel (Tagaytay)
Special thanks to Robinsons Malls and Summit Ridge for sponsoring the 2-day trip. I (and my tummy) definitely had a great time, no (burps twice), AWESOME time!
