Grateful for 2013 (Part 1 of 2)
I wrote this short blog while waiting for boarding at Jakarta International Airport and while on my flight to Kuala Lumpur (to India).
What a year it has been (2013)! I can’t believe I was out of the country (Philippines) for Christmas and New Year, much more traveling with someone I love (Callie of Love Laugh and Let Go). The last days of 2013 has been crazy amazing and I can’t thank God enough for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me.
Four years ago I said to myself that I quit job and follow my dreams and live my passion. I didn’t know what lies ahead but I was led step-by-step by the One who desires the best for me. Now I’m just dumbfounded with everything that is happening.
I had plans but God has far better plans. I didn’t expect that the blog would be an avenue for me to forge friendships, bring me to places I dreamed of and give me opportunity to live my dream while helping people. I’m just grateful for 2013- for the support of family, friends and faithful readers of my journey.
Allow me to thank the sponsors who have been a great help in my travels for 2013- Cebu Pacific Air for my domestic flights and Spyder for my shades and some apparels. Cebu Pacific had been generous enough to fly me around the country. Really thanks for the support!
I hope this year-ender post would inspire you to follow your dreams and live your passion as I did to mine. 🙂
January kicked-off my year of travel. Having a short vacation in Batangas then a surf trip in LU followed by a barkada trip to Mati City then a tour in Palawan (Puerto Princesa-El Nido-Coron). On January 22, I met Callie in El Nido and had my first ever #journeyingjamestours in Coron.
February. I stayed 2 more weeks in Coron to get my Open Water Diver License then went back to Manila and surfed waves in Zambales and Surigao del Sur. I also had my first ever photoshoot courtesy of the tanned and sexy Tiara.
March was spent most of the time in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur to write my ISANGDAAN book and surf more in Mati City where I just bought a piece of property to build myself and my future family a simple house. Had a awesome Calaguas Island Surf and Shoot tour which gained me a lot of friends. I hiked Mt. Batulao with the Pinoy Montaineer and spent my Holy Week sun-kissed for 6 days straight- yes, surfing as you have guessed.
April started with a Legazpi and Donsol tour. #ProjectJomalig a 6-month feeding program in an island off the coast of Quezon province also came into fruition with the help of volunteers like Emelyn Balabat and Arvin Quilloy. I ended April with a 7-day Great Palawan Backpacking Tour.
May brought my to luxurious places like a 3-day Misibis Bay FamTour followed by Avenue Plaza Hotel’s grand welcome when I arrive in Naga City. I then accompanied someone and toured around Ilocandia. Another Surf and Shoot tour was created in partnership with Tiara Mejos and Mitch Escal this time in Baler. I was then invited by Cebu Pacific Air to cover Camiguin and then I stayed for 2 days in Cebu before heading to Manila.
June‘s 1st day brought me to the exclusive Anvaya Cove to blog about the yearly Philippine Kayaking Series. I then led a group of 3 adventurous individuals Doc Banggi, Anna and Lester to Zamboanga and Tawi-Tawi for a 5-day backpacking tour. I spent the rest of June surfing in Baler and Pundaquit, Zambales and ended with another Calaguas tour that was diverted to Paracale and Bagasbas because of a bad storm.
Please visit back this weekend for part 2 and 2014 travel plans.
