Short Trek to Bukidnon’s Provincial Tree Park

What kind of activities you do to have that adrenalin-fix?

Me? Its either surfing or running.

I arrived at Bukidnon on my 63rd day of ISANGDAAN Journey. I was welcomed warmly by Kuya Bon of Con Tour Blog, Earl of Suroy Pilipinas and Ate Raquel and Kuya Erick and was offered a special place to stay in at D’ Stable Eco Resort (Quadra) in Brgy.Sumpong where I was stunned by the great view of the mountains around the stable consistently refreshed by the distinct smell of the pine trees in the cold air.

Being a good host to his province, Earl, invited me for a short run/trek the next day to Provincial Tree Park or Two Trees. The trek was less than 5 kilometers back-and-forth but we are huffing and puffing all the way because of the steep and slippery ascend. After 30minutes of perspiration, our tiredness was proved to be worth it because of the sweeping view of Malaybalay City seen from the spot where we said to ourselves to stop.

Earl chose the perfect spot for a traveler/runner like me. Thanks again Bosing Earl!

Earl wrote about the short run here: Trail Running with JourneyingJames

Not only that, the Kitanglad mountain range showed herself in full morning glory. Standing at least 2,899 MASL it was a sight to behold, as if taking care of the rich pineapple, coffee and ricefields of Bukidnon.

Look at the Kitanglad mountain from our view point. Majestic right?

Sadly, people don’t now how to take care of the environment as they do stupid things here:

Ballooned condom hung in one of the pine trees. WTH!

I just hope that picnickers and tourist would be more considerate with the nature they are enjoying.

Sadly, after Typhoon Pablo hit Mindanao on the first wek of December, the two trees are now reduced to one. 🙁

Getting here:

There is a well-established trail going up here as trail runners love this trail. You just have to go to the Gawad Kalinga Village and from there ask around where the trail is to the “Two Trees.”

Our route was like this- we walked along the road in-between the DPWH and Bukidnon Provincial Jail, down to the Capitol Village, passed the spillway over Kalawaig Creek and went all the way up to the tree park.

Wow! Thanks for visiting our city. I’m from Malaybalay but I’ve never been to Two Trees! Hopefully I get to visit it soon when I come home for the holidays. 😀

That condom seems to be fresh when you saw it, like it was placed there a day before? anyway, i agree with you about the trek spot. it looks lovely on photo. i’m sure it’s way better on site.

Wow! I always see the Mt. Kitanglad since I live in Baungon. But WOW I never thought that the mountain is so majestic! I want to go to that park just to see that view point in the mountain! I want to see the pine trees too. It’s not visible from our place.

I wish we could visit this place next weekend. I love going to Bukidnon. The province allows me to relax and unwind.
