Anyone here planning to visit London soon?
For your next city break in London, why not consider the South Easterly suburb of Fulham?
It might be more famous for footballers in the modern day, but this area boasts a rich
history and a diverse range of surrounding attractions that will suit the whole family.
With this in mind, we have put together a simple guide to the area for when you are looking to
book your next hotel in Fulham:
Where to stay?
Make sure you’re situated close to a public transport option, such as Fulham Broadway tube
station. Away from the expensive CBD of London, there is a wide range of accommodation
options available in the area.
What to see?
Stamford Bridge
It might not be the only attraction in this part of the city, but for sporting fans it hold real
significance. Chelsea FC has been a constant presence in the landscape of English football for
the last century. Stamford Bridge is not just a place for the club to play their home matches,
but it is also seen by many as a spiritual home.
Earls Court
This district of London has seen more than its healthy dose of blue plaques and famous
names. Some of these include Diana, Princess of Wales, Alfred Hitchcock and Freddie
Mercury. Earls Court is also home to the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, one of the busiest
venues in the country.
Fulham Palace
This medieval residence was the main residence of the Bishops of London from the 11 th
century all the way up to 1975. The 30 acres of ground are open to visitor access in the
current day, from the chapel through to its moat, the largest in England. The Fulham Palace
Gallery and the Museum of Fulham Palace are both located on the grounds and are well
worth a visit.
Harrods
There are few locations that offer the potential for decadence that Harrods has. This isn’t
just a store; it is arguably the most recognisable department store in the country. Covering
five acres of land and over one million square feet of selling space, the store features an
incredible 330 departments. Whether you are after Wagyu beef, poodle palaces or French
perfume, you will find every brand and breed available in this unique department store.
Nothing is off limits and nothing is out of reach when it comes to the Mohammed Al Fayed-
owned creation. Be warned though, the vast majority of items are as expensive as they are
spectacular, so bring the chequebook!
