Sportfishing at Pantabangan Lake, Nueva Ecija

Sport-fishing or Game Fishing is not that famous here in the Philippines. But the past years it has been gaining some grounds. Pantabangan Dam (in Google, it is captioned as Pantabangan Lake) is one of the places where you can experience it. I also remember that Siargao island offers this kind of experience too.

The Panoramic Pantabangan Lake. Notice the clouds covering some parts of Nueva Ecija’s mountain ranges

I have to say that Pantabangan Dam is not only for anglers. It’s for families who just want to experience the outdoors. It’s picturesque, the view of the lake is really refreshing to the eyes.

My boatman told me that large mouth bass are like celebrities here. Americans, Japanese and Korean anglers visit Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija to get that high from sportfishing. I wasn’t able to catch some fish when we toured the dam but it was a breeze to be on the boat and just be awed at the simple beauty of the mountains, of the dam, of nature, of the people around.

The place was scenic and peaceful. Imagine that strong gush of wish touching your face. Awesome!

Locals also told me that people go here to camp, on motorbikes, mountain bikes.

I wish I can show a picture of myself holding a big bass but the boatman told me that bass can be caught only in the morning so better luck next time. Anyway, I guess I have to be contended with a picture with her. haha She is one of the tourism staff in the region. Me wants to go back to… ♥

What an awkward moment!
