No, I’m not fooling you this time as I did with “My Last Ode to Sienna.”
Almost everyone was intrigued when I admitted to have a travel companion– only to find out that it was actually a footwear- my Sprint VFF named Sienna (sobbing now). Well, I really have to say goodbye to her ‘coz I already found a real travel buddy.
Seems like everyone wants to see me traveling with someone special…
Someone to share laughs with…
Someone to enjoy the setting sun…
Or fixing the tent instead of hanging a hammock…
Someone to share the cost of a lovely dinner…
Now I keep on asking myself, “Why did I ever thought of solo traveling if traveling with a buddy is more fun?” YES! F.U.N.
So please say hallo (hello in German) to Clara, my travel buddy for a week in Bicol. She is from Romania but lives and works in Germany now. Clara is actually traveling for 10 weeks around Asia (Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia). She went to the Philippines for 10 days without a plan whatsoever. Brave girl huh?!!! So, she learned about my Bicol travel plans and she tagged along; then another girl, Joan (Philippines) also joined us. It was so much fun to be with these lovely ladies.
Clara first traveled with Joan of The Backpack Chronicles to Caramoan then I joined then when they got back to Naga City. We journeyed together to Calaguas but Joan has to go back the earliest in the morning because of work so Clara and I are stuck together. hahaha
Yep, we clicked right away. What I like about her is that she travel on the cheapo too (as in)! She didn’t mind staying on a fan-room using the common bathroom even if we have our own bathroom. She ate the whole of balut (yes, including the white part) and kinalas (local soup with pig’s brain) or even eat in carinderias (turo-turo style). In short, “Walang arte-arte.” My kind of travel buddy! Just give her a cup of java and she’ll smile at you. In fact, she never runs out of smile. 🙂
She was my late support crew when I did my 2nd marathon in CamSur. Thanks again Clara for bringing the stuff and post-race food.
Oh well, I miss her already.
She’s back into Germany the last time we exchanged e-mails, working and studying again. I know she is saving for the next big trip.
This is for you Clara… a backpacker, a dear friend, my travel buddy for a week.
I just hope that we cross path again “meine liebe freundin.”
Ending this post with a quote from her:
“When you travel you’re never really alone; you always meet someone along the way” —Clara
