Cebu Pacific’s Smile Magazine: The Shoestring Diaries- Zamboanga City

I’m so honored to kick-off the new feature of Cebu Pacific’s in-flight magazine SMILE, THE SHOESTRING DIARIES where I wrote my Zamboanga City adventure. This article shows everyone going to Asia’s Latin City, some places to visit, foods to try and pasalubongs to buy complete with expenses summary each day. For this article I did a 72-hour suggested itinerary for the budget traveler.

For those flying with Cebu Pacific this July, you can still read my article on-board.

I’m happy that I’m receiving positive notes from the community at Rio Hondo as they are receiving visitors every week to check out the community on stilts.

Here are some of the testimonials received so far:

Ang totoo Gammar, napakasaya ko dahil sa hospitality at pagiging bukas loob ninyo sa akin at sa lahat ng bumibisita sa inyo. Hnd matutumbasan ng ano pa man ang kabutihan ninyo, ngunit makakaasa kang lagi ko kayong isasama sa aking mga panalangin! Maraming maraming salamat Ton at Jamz! –Jeff, Manila

I saw your number sa smile magazine sa cebuu pacific nag rio hondo tour kayo ni james. I also like to do the rio hondo bangka pagpunta ko dyan sa zamboanga. –Russell, Makati

Hi james. I read your cebu pac article and decided to give it a try. Worth it super! Would love to go back. –Linet of www.theitinerary.i.ph

My gratitude also goes to Ms. Ma. Arlene Suyco, Senior Tourism Operations Officer and to my Muslim friends in Rio Hondo, especially to Mr. Gammar Hassan, Ton and Steve who toured me in the community on stilts.

Thanks goes to everyone who tagged me on Facebook when they saw the magazine on their seats. You guys made me SMILE! Let’s hope and pray for more opportunities like this for JourneyingJames. Thanks also Ms. Maya, SMILE magazine’s editor.

It’s all about love for nature what made James decide to explore Mindanao and in my community in Rio Hondo (100% Muslim community in Zamboanga) he took the risk of coming despite of those news about us Muslims and Zamboanga later he knew why it is called the “the place of no return” because he learned to us and will decide to come back… We opened our doors and even toilet’s door to him on his eyes could see his understanding among human and his eagerness to understand and love us, in return we love him. thanks for this.
