Mindanao Challenge Day 11: Sun, Sand & Skimboard at Dahican Beach

Posted on June 20, 2011 by journeyingjames 13 Comments

Dahican Beach's Unspoiled Coastline

I love the sun but I’m not a sun worshiper, I worship the God who made the sun.

Sunrise at dahican beach

I love the sand- on my feet, on my shirt, on my shorts, even when its on my hair. I love the fine feel of it on my toes- I feel connected to nature when I’m walking on it barefoot.

6K Morning Run, barefooted

I love the surf as I can skimboard on it. I learned about this sports years ago, considered myself a skimmer but then I started running because there is no beach in Manila or Laguna where I came from but then this Beach just brought my love for Skimboarding back. Stoked, I am!

A skimmer as he starts to conquer the waves

I love Dahican Beach because its has the sun, the sand and the surf!

I would call Dahican Beach a Skimboarders/Skimmers Paradise.

A new friend, Cielo was visiting the beach for the 4th time. She said that this beach is a total package for an International Skimboarding Competition and I couldn’t agree more.

We eat together at Amihan Boy's Cottage.

Come to Dahican Beach and meet the Amihan Boys, the local skimmers/surfers that will surely welcome you like a family member.

On my 11th Day in Mindanao, I just enjoyed the sun, the sand and the surf! Oh, I also wash my clothes here, cheaper than going to the laundry shop. hahaha

Expenses for Today: Php 367

Php 10 – Powder Soap
Php 12 – Bread
Php 40 – Habal-Habal fare to town
Php 25 – Internet Rental
Php 40 – Habal-Habal (Downtown, Mati City – Amihan, Dahican Beach)
Php 200 – Groceries for me and the Amihan Boys
Php 25 – Bread
Php 15 – Internet Rental

______

Php 367.00.

Finally, I was able to live within my budget. My accommodation? Free of charge, what more its fronting the beach. Love it!

Word for Today:

Dula. Play or laro. Dili ka magdula sa balod? You’re not going to play in the waves?

Travel Lesson for Today:

“Don’t bring cotton shirts, it is heavier and not easy to dry.”
