I’m assuming that you already know what traveling/backpacking is. If not, my fellow travel bloggers/writers will describe to you what traveling is on the next post. Be sure to check that. 🙂 Anyway, there is what I call travel planning or research mode before the adventure trip.
Yes, we need to learn something significant (historical, cultural, foods, people, sights, etc) before going to our destination. And since the place you are going to have seen a lot of visitors already try doing some Google search. You will be surprised to know that there are useful pieces of information that can save you a lot of time and resources. Some travel bloggers give you a picture of what to expect, how much is the budget, how to commute, cheapest accommodation, and even show you a picture of a dead fish they saw by the shore or his picture while on the bus station. These infos (except the dead fish pic) will save you a lot of time, energy and resources.
So, if you think you have researched a lot, research more. I get informations to at least 3 sources: (1) Travel blogs, make Google your best friend; (2) Lonely Planet, no need to buy one, I usually hangout on Powerbooks and kill time while reading that yellow traveler’s bible; and (3) Friends/Locals, they are the best as they have first-hand informations.
Do remember that the adventure starts while planning so make the research fun. And please don’t try to post 20 different shots from the bus station while waiting for your travel companions. 🙂 Peace!
Enjoy traveling! Share this tip to others too!
