Snapshots Thursday: Taoist Temple, Cebu City

This is the 3rd Snapshot featuring nice places to visit in the Philippines where you can also join a Milo race at the same time. Talk about travel and racing in one.

1st Snapshot: Underground River, Puerto Princesa City
2nd Snapshot: Panglao Island, Bohol

Philippine Taoist Temple, Beverly Hills Subdivision, Cebu City

When my old camera is still working, I go to places up north just to photograph some old Catholic churches. Then I had the opportunity to visit Cebu City for the first time. I was not able to see the Roman Catholic churches because my cousin brought me here.
Oh by the way, this place is a perfect uphill training ground, 6kms north of downtown Cebu, about 300meters above sea level. After 99 steps, you will be rewarded with the view of Cebu City, Mactan Island and the neighboring Bohol island. A perfect sunset too!

This was actually part of my first solo backpacking trip last August 2008.
The route: Manila-Cebu City-Bohol-Dumaguete, Negros Oriental-Santander, Cebu-Puerto Princesa City
Duration: 9days
Total expenses: Php7,000 (all-in including airfare).

The view from the temple used to be good back in the late 80's and early 90's! I went back last 2007 after for God knows when was the last time I visited the temple, the site was dotted by houses, and more houses! It's good to run in that area, but the habal-habals are major sagabals! they tend to overspeed in these areas, and not to mention, some of them habal-habal drivers are actually bandits. yikes!
